I am putting a 10 bolt rearend together & just bought the houseing gasket.
It has slits in it about 3/16 wide & 1/2 in long. The holes that feed the carrier bearings are about 3/4 in dia.
Should I open the holes up in the gasket for more flow,Or is it designed this way for a purpose ?
Thanks ...Tom

I just replaced my gasket and rear fluid in my 8.2 rear on my 69. No problems. The expert to ask in this section of forums would be big gear head. He would answer if there is a need for that. But I don't think they would continue to make that gasket if the need is for one with a bigger slot IMO.

most gaskets arent even there most use silicone for the gasket.so for the holes doesnt matter. all the bearings are fed through the ring gear and pinion.also overall height of gear lube. unless you turn diff up like in a truck modify than different.
