I need to change the rear pinion seal in my original 68 12 bolt. Can I loosen the nut and retorque it back on with the tires on the ground? Or will the car move or will it hurt the gears? Any eay way to do this? Thanks.

If you try to torque it with the tires on the ground you will probably run the car over yourself. It won't hurt the gears. Use a large pipe wrench to hold the yoke while you torque the nut.

That might be a goodway to put me out of my misery over this car. But thanks for the info. Big Ford socket wrench, aka pipe wrench.
