HELP. I got new tires at a local shop about 6 months ago. Today I pulled the wheels to bleed the brakes and found two of my rear studs so badly stripped that I cannot replace the lug nuts. They must have used an air wrench. How do you replace them? I am a very amateur shade tree mechanic. My rear is a 12-bolt with drum brakes.

Remove the drum and hammer them out. Install the new ones with a long nut and some washers.

Take rear drum off. Then on bad studs put a little pb blaster.Let it soak for 10 or 15 minutes. make sure you dont get any pb blaster on brake shoes. Then hit stud with a hammer until the stud starts to come out. You might have to turn the axle a little to get stud off. good luck
