So I bought a 1968 Camaro yesterday. Seller says it definately was a SS but the previous owner stripped the good parts (rearend, disk brakes) blah blah.

SO it was a automatic and it was Lemans Blue with Standard interior. I am divided as to build back to original, try to get matching numbers stuff...or build it like I want it (change the color and interior) and just have fun with it.

The question is, I definatley want to get a 4-speed. If I restore to "as original as possible" with a 4-speed does it diminish the value?

there is virtually no way to prove or disprove it is an ss, that being said it is very expensive to replicate originality. and without documentation you will not recover investment. therefor i suggest you do whatever trips your trigger.
