I didn't know if this is the proper forum, I just hope it is

I measured my ride height today. From the ground to the bottom of the fenderwheel in the front measured 24". That was measured vertically thru the centerline of the spindle. I have 225/60/15's if that matters any. Would this be considered lowered or stock ride height? If it is lowered, by approx how much?

I would say it is about 2-3" lower than stock. Mine is 25" to bottom of fender lip and I have sagging SB springs with a BB in it. 235/60 x 15. What is the measurement from wheel hub center to the fender lip? (Removes tire size from equation)

The best I could measure from the center of the hub to the bottom og the fender is 13.25" - 13.5". May even be 14".

It was cold outside and there is a *shiver - factor* in that reading!

(Brr...blue face from being so friggin cold outside!!!)

) I noticed you measured a 68. Mine is a 69. I wonder how much differance that would make?

When I got my springs years ago as far as I know they were stock replacement springs but who knows what they actually gave me. I didn't think they were sagging THAT much but who knows...oh well.

Doug,

Just checked my 69 with 235/60/15's on the front. I have Landrum adjustable spacers and adjusted my ride height to match the lowered rear springs I bought which are around 1.5" drop but don't know for sure, don't ask it's a long story! The front end is 3/8" to 1/2" lower than rear for proper rake so I guess a total 2" drop up front. Anyway, my measurements are 24.5" from floor to lip (no molding) and 13.25" from wheel center line to lip. Happy Holidays.

I've been looking at the Landrum adjusters. Where you get those from? I looked on their website and didn't see em. got part numbers? What spring rate you go with? You use the Landrum spring, Hypercoil (?) springs, or something else? Gimme details???

Carl...It says on your webpage that you have the 700# springs and it also has a "surprisingly nice ride". For a strictly street car, would you run the 700# springs or do with something a bit lighter? I have a set of 706# IROC-Z springs in an 84 Cutlass (stock springs are about 345#) so I'm not real scared of stiff springs.

My 69 RS Z is 12 1/4 and I feel it sets about an inch too low and its suppose to have the right springs in it. RS cars are definately heavier, I think the springs sold today are about one size fits all,Maybe custom made is the answer.

I guess ride quality is subjective.

Torker thinks that for the most part the car is easy on the kidneys. It's no Caddy, and big bumps and potholes are something to avoid.

If your Cutlass is OK then likely this rate would be OK also. My Camaro is a tanker. If yours is on any kind of a diet then 600#/in would likely be better.

I have 600# springs with an all iron SB and 175# springs in the rear. The ride is not bad at all. My Dad is a Corvette nut, buys a new one every two years, so I've had a chance to drive C2-C5 models. My 69 rides about as stiff as a stock C4 vette, I just wish it handled as well. I think this spring setup, which I duplicated from Stielows "Thrasher", is a great compromise in ride quality and performance.

Thanks guys for the great input! I'll have a smallblock with aluminum Vette heads, TPI, and maybe an alum waterpump. 88 IROC serpentine belts and maybe in the future, a Vintage Air a/c setup. I guess I need to do some weighing but that TPI is pretty heavy and may offset some of the alum heads advantage. I'll probably run somewhere between 550# & 650# springs. Sound about right? I know..it's personal preferance but I'd like your ideas. I'll quit askin after this...I hope!

I just installed a set of Moog #6312 in my 69 pace car. That's a heavy car. small block RS SS convertible. With the new springs the car sits exactly 25" from floor to wheel well lip (not counting the molding). My tires are P215/70R14 BFG's. If you happen to click on my link below, that is how it used to sit.
