I just installed a new MSD distributor in my camaro after removing the old HEI and installing a new manifold. My question is: I know I had the motor at TDC when I pulled the old distributor out and my intial timing is 12* BTDC. If as motor is at TDC and you run advanced timing then I wouldn't be at zero on the balancer. I am pretty sure the rotor was pointing at or by the number one plug on the cap. Now I installed the new distributor and the rotor is pointing in the right spot towards the front of the engine and I put the cap on and it is pointing between the number 1 and 2 cylinders. Did I mess something up or should i just turn the distributor to match the number one plug? Everywhere I read it says between the number 1 and 8 plug terminals. Did I do something wrong?
