I have a 1988 Iroc-z28 with a 305 TPI 5 speed. I'm having a problem with my car when i brake and make left turns. There is a Rubbing sound that my car makes. Seems like its coming from around the left front tire. The sound doesn't happen when i make right turns. Had it checked out by some people and they have no clue what it could be. They checked ball joints, calipers, mounts of the engine and transmition. Any clue what is going on here?

How close is your exhaust to your driveshaft?
I've had them rub and you think its coming from a wheel. Just a thought.

Oddly, I had this happen because the plastic cover on the inside of the front wheel well got a bit lose (lost a plastic rivet or whatever). Anyway, it stuck forward just enough to touch the tire when turned; especially under braking when the car's weight shifts forward. Try to put something gooey on the plastic piece and drive around in circles and let it make noise. If the goo has been rubbed off and traces are on the tire, then you know it is rubbing.

Hope this helps,
