My Camaro runs fine at idle and when accelerating at high RPM's while in park. The second I put it in drive and accelerate, it cuts out and has a rough time going. It does not back-fire and I've checked the plug wires for a possible defect, they're just fine.

Any idea what could be causing this?

bad cap and rotor

Could be it. Gonna run to the auto store to pick a new cap and rotor up.

The car doesn't jerk, it just sputters and doesn't want to go. I've ordered a new rotor, cap and wires. Hope that does the trick. If not, I will also swap out the plugs
