I am starting to recover my seats in a 67. The inside padding, which appears to be a cotton batting of some sort, is very bad. Does anyone know a source for this or a substitute material of the same density?
No my foam is fine(which was a big surprise after 30+ years. What is very bad is the burlap(which I bought at a fabric store) and the cotton(I think) stuffing that goes around the edges and on the center panels of both the seat bottom and back. It is like an inch thick cotton padding of some sort.
I just got my new seat covers and buns.
in the box with the buns a flyer said to trash the cotton ,i got new buns just to be safe .i thought mine were in good shape ,but now that i see new ones i'm glad i got em
because i did need them!!
here is the tech line number at saguaro mold and mfg.(520)-682-6257 they made the buns from classic muscle
hope this helps

also remembe that the orig seat covers had a kind of cotton on them, like padding for the seat cover built in to the cover itself, it wasnt thick, but was present. dont sweat it,. all you need is the seat buns, seat covers, new burlap, Professional grade hogring pliers, a strong wrist a 12 pack of George killians finest irish red and a saturday afternoon.
