need to know if it needs to be bored agian before putting new rings and pistons cause it has 20,000 miles and has a little wear on the cylinders not for sure if im going to put new rings yet because its a 400 small block and is already bored 30 over so dont wanna go no more so might end up using same pistons dunno thanks for the help

If you re-ring the motor you NEED to give the cylinders a hone. If you don't the rings will NOT seat. Double check your piston to wall clearance before honing cause the bores maybe worn. If they are worn then a new hone will enlarge them even more with piston rock/slap as a result. Not good!

May not need to be bored but definately hone it!

Probably should talk to a good machinist, have him look at the cylinders if possible. Today's moly rings work well on a smooth wall. Standard steel rings might need a quick hone. If you can still see the hone marks in the cylinders, and you might, you might have a very good surface for the moly rings.
