383, Edelbrock carb. Not sure of CFM. I didn't install. The car smells like it's running rich. The fumes burn my eyes when close. I have the air \fuel mixture screws turned all the way in. I'm not sure it should even run this way but it does.
When I romp on it she goes fine, idles fine.
But it smells like it's running way rich.
Any thoughts?

First off, if the mixture screws are in all the way and it idles fine your needles are scores meaning that they are not doing their job regulating.(Ask me how I know) If you can really smell the gas, then you need to change the metering rods and jets. There should be a number on the passenger side of the carb on the front of the base. What is that number?

runnin350, The numbers are 1407 2219.
The carb is essentially new.
Hard to believe that things are worn out already, but.........

Jets and rods have no effect on idle quality.

First, check is fuel is dripping out of boosters at idle. If it is, floats are too high.

If not, then I suspect you have your throttle blades open too far at idle, exposing the transfer slot. If it is, you need to bump up the advance (to about 16*, what cam are you running anyway?), then you can close the throttle blades enough to hide the slot. This is a common problem.
