KYB's have a (to put it nicely) mixed reputation on the boards. I'd go for a set of Bilsteins or Konis.

Bilsteins all around here. Decent ride, not like floating on a pillow, but I'd equate it to a modern day pickup. I like 'em.

I absolutely love the Bilsteins (HD's) up front but they were too quick for the rear. So I went with plain KYB gas shocks in the rear. I have this set up (w/ factory replacement springs) on two 69's and it's perfect for my taste. KYB's up front feel like worn out shocks compared to the Bistein's. I also use the next larger size 13/16" sway bar in front vs. the 11/16 stocker. The 1" was a bit much for my taste. Also, solid body mounts are a worthwhile investment to keep the car from 'swaying'.

Both cars corner great with very little body roll and ride is nice and smooth. Couldn't be happier.

Good street driving etc. - Monroes

High performance - Bilstien, Edelbrock, Koni

Stay away from KYB gas-A-justs

The newer Kyb's are not bad. (from what I have heard.)
