Howdy yall, first post on any Camaro forums...

So i have a 1995 3.8 Camaro, a few days ago i was in a rush and was changing an amp on my sub box. As i managed to get all the wires unhooked (besides the power and ground cables) i had a brain fart and completely forgot to take out the fuse that ran from the power box off of the battery to the amp, i touched the power hookup (on the amp) with my screwdriver which made a sizable spark.

I then popped the hood, took out the amp's power wire fuse which wasn't fried, and continued changing things. After i swapped everything over i turned my car on, even though everything runs fine and everything there is no sound coming from any of the 4 speakers and no power reaching my newly placed amp. The stereo head unit powers on and everything, but no sound comes to any of the speakers. I checked all the fuses in the side of the dash board which all are in tact. I even changed out one of the speakers to see if i had fried the speakers, and even that didn't work.

Wondering if anyone knows anything that might help. My dad (Auto body Mechanic, also a Camaro lover [68 Camaro RS SS]), and my other brothers (both Mechanics, 93 Z28 Camaros) are kind of stumped as well.

Having mechanics in the house helps and unless they are parts swappers they should either own a multimeter or a test light and be able to show you how to use these tools.

When you say you popped the hood and the fuse didn't look fried, you might not have seen the fried portion. I've seen fuses that look good but are an open circuit that does not let power flow through it.

Get out a meter or test light and see if you have power at the fuse on both sides, then check power at the amp, then check for ground. If you have both of these then possibly the turn on wire is dead. This too can be checked but with a meter (and not a test light as this may draw too much power and give a false positive result or damage things). If the turn on wire is dead then just to make sure the amp is good is to run a test jumper wire from the amps battery terminal to the turn on terminal and the amp should turn on. If not the amp is bad. If the amp turns on with this jumper then the turn on wire going to the radio or inside the radio has an issue. A meter can help trace this down.

Thanks for the reply Jim, but i've already done test light checks on the amp power cord and fuse, fuse is fine (level 50 is probably too big anyways). I was talking with my younger brother who's back home, he suggested that the head unit itself might be fried internally, which might explain the "no sound to any of the 6 speakers in my car" issue...

This amp you have, does it power all of the speakers or are you running the power of the radio (it's speaker wires) directly to some speakers and then using a sub pre-amp RCA output from the radio to a subwoofer amplifier and then to a sub(s) ?.
There are plenty of wiring options for car audio and if all else fails, put together a neat wiring diagram showing what wires off the radio go where, what wires off the amplifier go where, and so on. This would help out a lot.

Guess i never did explain that part... I've had this car 8 years, all the factory position (2 speakers in the doors, 2 in the rear towers) have no audio output, the amp and subwoofer i have sitting in the trunk, there's only a single subwoofer back there. All of the wires in the car are all stock going to the main factory speaker positions, the only thing i have put in there was the subwoofer power supplies and wires.
