Is it possible to restore the small plated seperators that bolt to the valve covers? The plating can be done, but what about the rubber or plastic coating? I am not talking about the plug wire towers on the intake side of the valve covers. Thanks.

Gary,
Are you talking about the little wire retainers for the temp sending unit? If so, you can buy the vinyl for coating pliers. It comes in a jar, and you just dip the ends of the pliers in and let it dry. For the valve covers, you might have to rig up another way to coat them. Maybe suck some up into a piece of tubing, and then let it drain onto the retainer.

I did mine by cleaning off the old covering, bead blasting, and replating using the Eastwood electroplating tin-zinc kit. Then I dipped them in the black rubberized coating that Unreal mentioned. Turned out perfect.

Yes, on a small block one of the separators also holds the temp sender wire. The others just hold wires. Where do you buy that coating. A Home Depot or Lowes? Thanks for the help.
