A option for ceramic boots are these heat shields. They are available at some auto part stores. They came stock on a 96 LT1 car I have

I used the typical plug wire protectors as a first line of defence on #5 as well as the temp gauge probe. Helped keep the boots from getting damaged. Took out the ring and unraveled it on #5 to make it easier to wrap around.
