OK, so I think I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself. Need some help here so I will try and be as clear and detailed as possible:

I have a trunk mounted battery and a "ford" style solenoid next to it. 1/0 cable from B+ to one side and 1/0 cable to the bulkhead fitting on toe kick of passenger side with final 1/0 running to starter. Pics below. Ran the trigger wire from the solenoid to the front along with an 8 gauge charging wire for the alternator (I hadn't connected it when I took the picture but it is on the small post of the solenoid).

My question is where does this trigger wire attach in the harness? I have the AAW harness with purple wire going from fuse box to NSS then to ignition switch on column. On engine bay side I have purple wire going to the late model pigtail on starter on my LS3.

If I understand correctly, the trigger wire from the trunk needs to be introduced to the purple wire somewhere along this path so the solenoid in the trunk will close allowing the juice to flow to the starter motor up front which should be triggered at the same time.

So do I have this completely wrong? Scratching my head and feeling my limitations here....:frown2:

Purple wire to solenoid. Then if not LS starter put a jumper from Bat+ to S terminal on the starter.

Thanks John. For clarity, I have the purple wire going to the LS starter solenoid (in the engine compartment) but not sure where to run the trigger wire coming from the solenoid in the trunk?

Tap it into the purple that is connected to the LS starter. When you hit key switch it will trigger solenoid to connect battery power to the starter in key start position and will cut batt power to bat cable running to the starter when key switch is in Run, Off or ACC position.

OK, that's what I thought. Essentially triggering both solenoids simultaneously to provide batt power from trunk to LS solenoid and tell LS solenoid to engage and crank engine.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. This was one of those I thought I understood but I don't have familiarity with some of these systems, just trying to do what makes sense.

Some say this method can cause starter run on. I don’t see it and have done many LS Swap builds this way. A few have been now trouble free for over 5 years.

I have read about that but it seems to me once the switch closes (run, acc or off) the relay in the trunk opens and power is killed to the starter so I'm not clear on how run on is occurring unless through the purple wire?

My conclusion is they are talking about milliseconds.

Same as if you hold the key switch in the start position for a second after a stock non LS swap engine fires.

Never a concern for me and the durability of the cars I’ve done this way is what counts.
