Having said the above. It is possible to do a fairly decent adjustment by feel with the gear in the car. You will have to follow the directions in the following paper very carefully because you are repeatedly driving the car short distances to and making small adjustments to the gear. The worm bearing adjustment is made with the gear near full lock.
