Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
In assembling my 67 Convertible I have run into a problem I can't find a solution for.
When I go to bolt in the steering column to the dash the support bars are about 1/2 inch to short. When bolted to the lower cowl panel (just below dash) the threaded end of the support bars do not come thru the bottom holes of the front dash by very much. I can barely get the nuts started and i have to use a lot of force upward n the column to do so.
Anybody run into this before?
Only solution I can see is to get the bars lengthened but I don't think that's right,
Any thoughts guys?

Column bolts to firewall not in yet.
I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them.

Thanks for your responses

I too am having trouble picturing the problem. I just pulled my steering column so maybe I can help.
Those rods attach to the firewall on top and they run through the pedal bracket then through the steering column bracket. I can't picture what a "front dash" is.

I believe the OP is talking about the 3 rods that extend downward and hold the steering column tight against the bottom of the dash
