How can you tell if a power steering pump is bad?
I installed one and it sucked dry. It had no wine to it when i turned the wheel which felt like non-power. Filled it again and it sucked dry, then nothing.
Could the check valve be bad in the pump? If the orfice was to big, would this allow fluid to flow but not hold pressure?
Could my box be bad?
Need help, please!

I did that and still nothing. Just as if I had manual steering on it. I jacked the car up and tried running it from one side to the other to see if fluid was moving and had no results there. I think I am going to buy a new pump but wont if I dont need to.
I dont even have any noise coming from it. even when it went dry the first couple times. the weird thing was that it sucked it to the box.
Could the pressure vave be bad?

Yes, it stayed full on the third time. I think I'll just buy a new one. if I still dont have any thing, that would only leave the box. I had a heck of a time getting it in though. Thanks Hwy starJoe!
