I just purchased a set of Competition Engineering BOLT ON sub frame connectors. While it looks straight forward, it's always good to ask if there are any surprises waiting for me under there this weekend. I'd appreciate it if there's anyone out there with experience with these who can give be a heads-up on any tricks. Thanks.

I put the same kind on my camaro and it was easy, they fit really well and I did the whole job without assistance. The hardest part maybe getting the bolts out of the spring shackle with out breaking the threaded clips in the frame.

So this would be a good time to put in new leaf springs and shackles too?

I put the same connectors on my 69. Very straight forward. I also replaced body bushings (poly-graphite), and rear springs while I was under there. They look pretty good and in the short distance I have driven the car they make a big difference.

A must, buy the bolts and clips that hold the front spring perch to the floor. Three on each side. Guaranteed you will not get all six out without breaking the clips. I would be willing to bet my.....uh.....someone else's Camaro. However the replacements seem cheap to me so whatever ones don't break I would re-use.

Got it. I had already replaced the body mounts so will now add sub frame connectors, new leaf springs, pads, perches, shackles, etc. Pretty soon it will be an all new 1967 Camaro. Thanks everyone--this is what makes these posting things very valuable.

Look over the posts in the "brakes and suspension" section.

Theres been a recent one on subframe connectors and it might just save you some headaches when dealing with removing the front leafspring mounts.

It sure helped me because I just got done putting a set of Jegs SFC's under my 67 along with new three leaf springs. pdq67

im doing the same thing this weekend except im getting a new 12 bolt anf comp engineering ss traction bars. ill post soon on how that all works out

MCPC,

I would suggest that you WELD the sub-frame connectors in after you bolt them up. This will completely eliminate chassis flex caused by engine torque. You do alot by just bolting them up, but to do it absolutely the RIGHT way, they need to be welded in.

Of course, if you do this, you will want to go ahead and replace any suspension components that are suspect.

Once you weld in the connectors, you WILL pick up more vibrations and such inside the car because the front suspsension will no longer be isolated from the rear suspension.
