I was always told to put some miles on a engine before to use synth. oil in a car. To let the rings time to seat properly. so why are they using synth. now in the new 2002 35th camaro.

Synthetic oil is fine in a new car. Put some Amsoil in it from the beginning and it will last much, much longer.

Burney,
Vettes come with it from the factory, so it can't be all bad
I use it in most motors we build from the very start.
Have fun,

They also run those motors a bit before they leave the factories.
