I've got a 1999 Camaro SS with a T-56 six speed tranny. I wrecked the fifth gear synchro at the drag strip missing third gear and need to get it rebuilt. I know there are a few mods or replacements that could be done while it's opened up, heavier forks, etc. I'm on the SW side of Chicago and wonder if anyone knows of a good transmission shop that can handle this kind of work. I can take the tranny out and reinstall it no problem, but I don't have the special tools or training to really do a quality rebuild in my garage. I'd like to find someone local who can do quality work and save the load of bucks shipping it somewhere. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Just thought of this also. Any ideas of improvements while the tranny is being overhauled, bring'em on. No time like then to get the most out of the whole process. I've heard about microniting the gears, does that really pay off in performance? Thx for any input.
