Get a point dist, change over wiring to point dist and use your coil, just as if it was installed in the engine.
Use a drill motor to turn dist.
Turn on ign switch to IGN and view tach for indication.
Be sure to ground dist body to complete the circuit.
Borrow another tach.
Ignition system is ______? OE point, HEI, or aftermarket box?
If point set distributor, tach wire goes on neg coil terminal.
If HEI, tach wire goes onto TACH terminal next to BAT terminal.
If aftermarket box, might have to add tach adapter from box manfacturer or plug into TACH terminal on box.
