I just installed console gauges in my 68 RS. The car never came with gauges so I had to install the conversion harness and new temp sending unit. All gauges but the temp are working fine. The temp gauge needle deflects to the cold or hot positon when bench testing. There is power at the sending unit and there is power at the gauge harness. I also replaced the resitor and the plastic bridge block, however I'm not sure if I have it right. Does anyone have any idea or picture on how the two pieces go together and anyone have any ideas on what the problem is.

Thanks for the info guys. The gauge is in and working fine, ended up changing the sending unit.

Resistor goes between the top and bottom terminals (12 and 6 o'clock positions). The plastic space goes on top of the resistor on the 3 and 9 o'clock terminals. The power and signal terminals go on the 3 and 9 o'clock terminals so the end of the connector forms a "T" shape.

You need to add a ground wire between the bottom terminal of the temperature gauge and the front gauge support metal plate because the chassis wiring only grounds the front support plate.

I had to try 3 different senders till I finally found one that worked correctly.What does,or doesn't yours do?

Dale, which sender worked for you? I need a new one, I banged up the old one while changing out headers during a power steering conversion. Several aftermarket companies have them, but they are not original AC Delco parts. There's an AC Delco unit on Ebay right now that I'm trying to win, just wondering which one finally worked for you.....KZ

I tried the AC Delco one,temp gauge was in the red.I tried a NAPA,temp gauge was 3/4 way.Finally a Standard Ignition (TS6)perfect,about 1/3 way.
