Does anyone out there know if there is another type of switch that would work for a TH 400 kick down solinoid as the originals are very rare and expensive.

TH 400 /67 camaro / holley 650 carb

One could probably use a push-button start switch from a marine supply house.

Use the same bracket as original, or make one similiar to original.

I have one of these p/b sw's mounted on the intake manifold to bump the eng over to adjust the valves -- works great!

Thanks I'll try that.

I have the original wiring harness that i could use, does this switch just feed 12v to the tranny or how does it work???

B&M makes TH400 switch. You can get it from the catalogs or any performance store. It's adjustable and works well. Costs about $30.
You may have to modify your bracket to make it fit. It is a "pull" switch. The factory harness will connect to it. The switch just provides a 12 volt source to the solenoid in the tranny.
I did this in my 69.

See? Ther'ya go!! I stand corrected by JoeG!!

Glad he recommended this, I forgot about B&M stuff. My idea wouldn't of worked if it is a pull switch set-up.

The B&M is a pull switch. The stock is a push switch, I believe. You will have to modify or make a bracket to use the B&M switch. The switch connects to the opposite (bottom) side of the throttle arm on my Holley. I made the bracket from a small piece of stainless angle. It bolts to one of the manifold bolts. Pretty easy and simple.

I have always thought it was a push-switch.
Seen pictures of k/d switches,

I just stick with PG's & 4-spd's

Everett, the stock one is a push switch so one could probably convert a marine type momentary push switch and install it like the original. But it stillwouldn't look original.
I used the B&M because it is setup and sealed already and looks pretty good. It is also adjustable so I have it set to make contact at about 3/4 throttle. The stock one makes contact at near full throttle.
The B&M switch was pretty cheap and easy, too. (Just like me!
)

Just another approach.

I found out today that i can get a TH400 kickdown switch (original) for a later model Chevy and it is suppossed to mount on the gas pedal instaed of the carb.

Does anyone know if this is the same switch or if it will work. for this application.
