Where in the world does the dark green temp wire get it's juice? My temp. idiot light doesn't work, as well as my brake light & oil light. The only light that seems to come on correctly is the "gen" light on my instrument gauge panel. First things first though.... I have been consistrating on the "temp" because of its importance. I have traced it from the sending unit on the manifold down to the junction block. Then I traced it from the passenger side of the junction block to the plug that goes into the back of the instrument panel. From there I traced it over to the ignition switch, both with the key on & off. What is a bit curious to me is, ALL the wire that go to the ignition switch show to have electricity when the key is on. All ACCEPT the dark green wire for the temp gauge. IS THE DARK GREEN WIRE SUPPOSED TO GET JUICE FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH???? This is my main question at this point. From studying the schematics & tracing the wires, I just don't see where else it is suppose to get any juice to make it function in the first place. I'm starting to think that maybe my ign.. switch is faulty. Maybe its the reason the other gauges don't light up either. Does anyone out there in Camaroland know??? Thanks for any suggestions.

The temp sensor for the idiot light is just a thermal switch. It grounds the temp light. The light socket is fed hot from the ignition switch. If you ground the terminal at the sensor with the key on the light should come on.

your problem is at the other end of the circuit. Each of those lights is grounded by it's individual sender switch to light it up. Those 3 lights are fed 12 volts to one side when the ignition is on. This is the part you are missing.

Does your fuel guage work?
My 69 diagram shows a 20 guage pink wire from the guages fuse to power those 3 lights and the fuel guage. Check the guages fuse.

Yeah the fuel guage works fine. I'm thinking that when I have the key in the "ON" position & stick the probe light thingy into the back of the egn. switch (were the two dark green wires come together) the probe light should light up. It doesn't. Do you think maybe my egn. switch is wore out for this particular function? I did the ground test by grounding the wire to the engine a long time ago. The wire just seems to not be getting any juice any where any how. I've even traced it by taking the junction box apart. I'm starting to think that's why the other guages don't light up when I first start the car (because the circuit board isn't getting the electrical feed it needs from the egn. switch. Thanks for your responses.

The dark green wire on the ignition switch going to the HOT light is a ground wire. When the key is in the start position that wire is connected to ground. Its a lamp test feature for the HOT idiot light, the light should illuminate during the start cycle. All of the idiot lights are powered from pink wires that come directly from the guages fuse (lower right corner). They are hot all the time, and it is the same power source as the fuel gauge.
