Hi all......i installed a rollmaster double row timing set about 250'Ks (180 miles)
i changed the oil yesterday and found a bright gold/brass metallic through
the oil.....after running the new oil for about 1 hour i dumped it and again
found the same gold/brass looking metallic...thinking about it i doubt its bearing material as its not dark enough (copper/bronze)
so i stripped the front cover and found the thrust between the cam gear and
block has worn a bit also its the same color as the stuff in the oil
Now comparing it to my old gear, the roll master does not have oil grooves
machined into the gear OR the thrust washer, also there isn't any in the block so how is the oil ment to get in there to lube it properly????
Could this be a fault in the rollmaster set??? like a 4.30pm friday afternoon model?? :D
your views
Thanks Gav

Hi, sounds like you are probably right, the washer would need some lube, being bronse material it must be the washer thats wearing, another thing maybe the washer could be to thick and cannot get lube in there, maybe talk to an engineer they can be pretty helpfull, good luck.
