By way of introduction - my first car was a 1967 Camaro, hugger orange with a flat black hood with an L88 hood scoop. I was a senior in high school, it was the early eighties and I thought it was the coolest, fastest thing around. 327/4 speed, roll cage and no back seat. Really cheap racing buckets from Tognotti's and no heater.

Fast forward to 10 years ago. My brother-in-law's family were chevy speed shop owners specializing in El Caminos, Corvettes and Camaros. He tells me one day they have a smashed up 69 he would give me if I was so inclined. It sat in my garage while I coached baseball, went to about 1001 softball and baseball games - you know the drill.

Fast forward to September. Dragged it over to a guy I had met through a neighbor that has a bad *** Chevelle. We talked and he agreed to do the body work and paint with my son and I planning on doing everything else. I don't have the body/welding/fabrication skills a lot of you guys do but I'm a decent shade tree mechanic. Just got the car back last Friday and ready to dig in. I plan on posting some pics to bring us current and then will post as we slowly reassemble and figure out what we really want to do. Build plan right now is as follows:

Paint and body as you see it
Normally aspirated 383 from either West Coast or Blue Print - would love feedback on this
TKO 600 from Jack Silver
New 12 bolt from Strange or Moser with 3.73's
4 wheel power discs from Right Stuff Detailing
2" drop springs from Hotchkis front and rear
Del alum bushings and bars from Global West
White standard interior (although really liking the deluxe)
Console (maybe with or without gauges)
Not sure on gauge cluster - so much to consider

As you can see, pretty basic and standard. I kind of want the retro feel with some driveability improvements here and there. So many good ideas on this forum, I welcome any and all comments, input, constructive criticism and general kibitzing.

So I am having a heck of time uploading photos. I thought I could drag and drop but no matter how small I make them it doesn't want to take. Am I missing something? I really don't want to post them all to flick or another hosting site if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I've been eyeballing that Blueprint 400 cubic inch engine with 508hp/473tq. Must be something psychological about that 500hp number....
Looks like a fun project!

All of the sheet metal I purchased was AMD and most fit relatively well with the exception of the tail light panel and deck lid. They required a lot of reworking but eventually turned out pretty good.
