Hey guys i got a 69 with a 12 bolt 373 gears. I have 15x8.5 torq thrust d's on the back and 15x7 on the front.My driver side wheels rub on the fender but my right side does not.*Im also running 235/60 r15 tires on the back.
My question is, should i trim the fenders a bit. or do i have to go 15x7 all around.i was also told they might be able to shave off a little bit of the back of the rims where it bolts on, but i dont think thats a good idea. i need a cheep salution cuz i cant afford to spend $700 for rims and tires.
I just hate the idea of trimming the fenders on a classic car.
Please help if you can.

15x8.5 is the problem (or is that a misprint in your add)..tire size is ok..what is your backspacing on the rear rims?? 4.3/4??

manufacture specs shows offset-25 and backspace 5.73

That's too much back space, especially if it's on the front.

I run 15x7 Rally's on mine all the way around with P235/60/R15's on all four corner's on my 1969...They are not the original wheels but I think the back space is 4.25"...I have a Moser 12 bolt w/ a 4 leaf spring set up in the rear. On the front it's a 350 mouse under the hood, no a/c, p/s and front disc brakes. I don't have any clearance or rubbing issues....My first 1969 even had P245/60/R14's Rally's on the front w/ a 14x6 Rally and drum brakes with no rubbing issue with factor a/c and a 327 mouse and later on no a/c with a 396 BBC.

Ok, i finaly found a place by my house called Santanas body shop. They do really good work and the owner Santana was a nice guy.
He looked at the car and told me that the driver side rear fender was in just less than .25" in, compaired to the other side, and also the inside top of the fender where the rubbing was, it was a piece of the sheet metal that was bent and sticking out a bit. Anyways he shavedet off about .25" and it does not rub.
I might have to shave a bit more cuz i have a lot of waight in the car it starts to rub just a little bit.
My problem was those 15x8.5's. I just love the way it looks with fat tires and did not want to go with the 15x7 cuz they dont make the same wheels in 15x8.
I also saved about 600-$700.

Sako,, I'm still laughing at your first post! Worried about messing up a classic and you put up a picture of a blower motor! Say you did that on purpose. We love a good joke!

You can always roll the fender lip without having to cut anything, or changing wheel backspacing even if it's wrong. Eastwood sells fender rollers maybe others do too.

Baseball bat...wow, that is old school.
I took the car to another place and they told me they do not want to roll it because the paint might crack, specsially if the fender has bondo ad the sheet metal of the sixties is like twice as thick.
I found out that the driverside rear fender had a little bit of bondo.
The body of the car is real nice and straight with no rust, so i cant complane.
