while the mirror was popular in the late 70s and 80s.....i must go back to the roots, and put the boring round stock '67 mirrors on....what's with the extra hole?? what's wrong here?

Extra hole for remote mirror.

Sure, the larger holes are for the remote cables, but I think he means the giant hole aft.

Looks like they were trying to position the mirror further back to clear the vent window.

If you can bring yourself to do it, put 68 mirrors on instead. I’m glad i did. Round 67 mirrors make my eyes cross. No clearance problems with the 68 mirrors and vent windows.

I can't. I've got an original RS/SS with 90 percent original sheet metal, and no rust under. and then, i take off the vintage late 70s early 80s aero-mirrors....and find the panel is remote mirrors......so back to original....

Just as a little warning...be careful of purchasing the cheaper round mirrors....most just flop around. Do a search here as it has been well discussed!
