Hello,

I am swapping in a 700r4 tranny and am not using a lift. I am going to jack the car high off the floor. I have seen these transmission jack adaptors. Has anyone had any experiences with these adapters? Pros and cons? Will they fit a 700r4 tranny? Which brands are the good ones and what do they usually run? Sorry for all the questions just dont want to get a hunk of junk or something that isnt going to work good. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have a regular floor jack and have R&R'ed my tranny a few times. I made a simple cradle that fits over the lifting platform of my jack out of angle iron. It's basically a flat platform for the trans to rest on and then a few vertical pieces attached at the 4 corners and extending up to the sides of the case to keep it from rolling over. I made it from scrap stock and welded it together. Ugly but works great.

I tried a typical trans adapter for my floor jack but it added too much height to the jack. My car would have to be a good 2 to 2-1/2 feet off the ground to roll the jack and trans under it and then the jack wouldn't extend far enough. I suppose you could drag the trans under the car and manhandle it onto the jack but that is hard to do laying on your back.

My adapter lets me set the trans in place and roll it under the car (bellhousing thru the wheelwell) and jack it right into place all alone.

I tried one but couldn't get the car high enough in the air to use it. If you can get the car high enough it will work fine.
