Hey guys! I'm having trouble deciding on what to do with my car. I have an 83 that used to be a V-6 but I am converting it over to a V-8. My problem is I have a 700r4 tranny and a th-350 and I want to put the 700 in but I don't have the right tailshaft housing for the torque arm to connect to on the tailshaft housing. I'v tried junkyards and cannot find the right one anywhere. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find one at. I also talked to a guy about it and he said that I could always just put a snubber on the end of the torque arm, or one the pinnion on the rearend it's self, and weld a bar across the car so the snubber would hit that and then it would act like a big traction bar. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of doing that and if so if they could give some better info on it, pics would help out alot to. That also brings into play the th-350, which i'v heard is better but i'm not for sure though. Any help you guys could give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

go to the nearest chevy dealer and see if they can get you the correct tailshaft housing.it needs to be hooked up- it is what hols the rear end at the proper angle. it is not just a slapper bar, it actually locates the rear front to back and sets the pinion angle.maybe you could fab up a mount to hook it up to the tranny crossmember somehow? i don't have a camaro, and am not sure how it mounts. but, if you have a welder and some skill, you could make some sort of adjustable front mount. that way, you could play with pinion angles and instant centers and make it hook hard or soft, depending on what you need.
