I have a set of OER rods if you can't find originals. Mine have never been installed.

I've heard and read so many complaints about the repop rods. Everything from them breaking, not having enough tension to hold the lid up and also them losing their tension in about a month. It's so much trouble (and a little dangerous) to swap them out, I'm afraid to even try a set of repops. Furthermore, the original GM RH for spoiler cars were .275" and it seems all the repop RH are only .257". It's not just the GM repops that have huge complaints on the internet either, it's also Ford, Chrysler, etc. I believe the major auto manufacturers back in the day had Metallurgists working for them that understood the hardening and tempering processes of spring steel to make dependable, long lasting and functional rods. The people over in China making these things today are probably just using and bending cheap, low quality high carbon, incorrectly processed steel rods and they are not performing as intended. I've called around to almost all the Camaro parts houses and they all say there are having a lot of complaints and returns on the repop rods. Are there more than one manufacture of these rods? If so, who seems to make the best or strongest I should say?

Try Heartbeat City in MI. They have a lot of 1st gen NOS stuff, and you might get lucky.

I needed one and got an aftermarket one and works as it should… holds up the lid even with a good amount of wind

HEY Fish,
I found them, although both sets must be from non-spoiler cars.
A 1/4" wrench slips easily onto both sides of each set, sorry man.
I checked my '68 - as you said, RH torsion spring is a larger diameter.
