I am interested in installing an NOS GM trunk light in my 67 coupe. According to the 67 AIM, this lighting package plugs into the same wiring harness connection as the license plate lamp. What this says to me is that the trunk light will only come on when: 1) the trunk lid is open and 2) the parking lights or headlights are turned on (in other words, whenever power is supplied to the license plate lamp). I would like to have someone with a factory installed trunk light confirm that this is how it's supposed to work.

The harness you have is for the convertible. The coupe's trunk light was inserted in the dome light circuit near the left wheel well. There is a connector in that area. You pull apart the connector and insert the trunk light harness between the two connectors.

Since convertibles don't have a dome light, the best the factory could do was to connect to the tail light circuit.
