Recently installed a Hotchkis TVS on my '67. On the rear u-bolts they(Hotchkis) says to torque them to factory specs. Well not many had multi-leafs, in my chassis manual there is not a option/spec for a multi leaf, so without overtightening what is the spec? Thx in advance for help.

45lbs is what I recall. You can actually bend the shock plates if you get carried away.

Those are 5/8" they will take way more than 45 lbs and I think the stock spec would have been closer to 100 ft/lbs
They're actually 7/16-20. Really tight with a flat washer and a lock washer is good. They're not grade 8. Lube the threads and use tall nuts. Too tight you could concievably begin to crush the axle tube.

Edit - Oops my bad - Hotchkis does give you some big honkin' 5/8 U-bolts. The factory bolts are 7/16-20. I just used 4 of the factory size. Sorry.

Currently I have them so that the poly spring plate bushings have a slight "deflection", seems tight enough but not sure if it should be tighter.
