I have mono-perches on my 12-bolt with some custom-fabbed lower mount plates that I'm going to replace with a set that I just got from Detroit Speed. I also got their Mono perch-to-multi leaf conversion kit. Here's the deal - I currently have 1/2" U-bolts and the Detroit kit uses 7/16" (as I undersand is the stock size). So I'm thinking if it's worth the time to drill out the holes in my Detroit speed kit for 1/2" U-bolts. There is enough material so that is not a concern but just wondering if I'm over-engineering this and the 7/16" ones that came in the kit would be plenty good. They just look wimpy compared to the larger ones that I've gotten used to. Car has about 450hp but someday will likely have 550hp.

Would ya'll recommend modifying for the 1/2" bolts or are 7/16" plenty sufficient for 550hp?

If the 1/2 are the right grade, use them. If they are hardware store stuff, use the 7/16.
