[1999MaroV6]

I've got a stock 1999 Camaro RS and without bein too invasive I wanna bump up the hp some (new intake, muffler, etc). I was wondering if anybody had an suggestions as to what I should buy and how to get the most horsepower for my money. Also I was looking at buying a new muffler but I want something with some bark but not too too loud, just enough to make me heard driving around. Thanks for the help.

Well that bark your referring to will make it sound more like a lumberjack chainsawing a dog in half in my opinion. I friend of mine has a v6 4th gen with an exhaust on it and it sounded awful. To be more specific it actually sounded beefy in the low rpms and I was impressed. Then he revved it up and I could actually hear the ricers smile... just my .02.

however, since we do have a limited exp. with v6's on this site you may want to try www.cz28.com. THey have an entire section devoted to the 4th generation 6 cylinder. In any case good luck!

I have a borla on my 96RS with the 3.8. I also have a set of RKsport headers and a [email protected] FIPK on it. My car is a little faster and much louder. V6 engines will never sound like a v8, but I like the way my camaro sounds. This site focuses mainly of older camaros. Try this site for the v6

From my resreach here is what I found:
K&N intake. 340$ for an 8hp gain with deep sound
Helix throttle body space. 130$ for 10hp gain
Exhaust system. varying from 200$ to 600$ for 5 to 12hp gain
I have an 1999 v6 camaro with the dual flowmaster muffler and tips. It sounds beefy on low idle. On high rpms it sounds like a 4cylinder's big brother. Was 200$ for the muffler, tips, and installation, which to me is a bargin.
If u want lots of power for under 500$, Jc whitney has a web site selling an electric turbo. Pro, up to 40hp gain. Con, can't be used for more than 30minutes at a time. It comes with an on and off switch.
So far i haven't found an easy answer for our v6 blues. V6's should come stock with 230hp, how sad for our friend only giving 200hp. Money is the key and lock.
