I re-adjusted my rockers two or three times because they would become loose after tightening. I believe it is because the plunger in the lifter was compressed. I soaked the lifters in oil before I installed them.

QUESTION:
Can I loosen all the lifters and start over. Then leave them alone as mentioned below in an earier post?? Knowing they will be loose again, but will be pumped up when the engine runs right?

"I much prefer the exhaust opening-intake closing method that virtually all cam manufacturers recommend. Regardless, once you go through them they may compress the plunger and appear to be loose; don't keep tightening them as you'll hang the valve open and have no compression at all. Do them right once and they're ready to fire.

Thanks

They should not loosen up beyond what the oil pump will fill in the first 2-3 seconds after startup.

I prefer to do it running. loosen till it clacks, tighten till it's quiet, plus 1/4 turn, next.
