The instructions that came with my Vintage Air unit state "wrap all exposed metal on the #10 line with sealing tape" on the suitcase but they don't say anything about the #6 line and the associated expansion valve.

Is it not necessary to wrap these as well or should the expansion valve remain exposed to the atmosphere? I am no HVAC guy so just looking for a little guidance here.

The number 10 one is the only one that will sweat, hence the tape to insulate it. It is the only one that needs tape.

Thanks Don. I thought that might be the case but didn't know for sure. Appreciate the response.

They don't give you enough tape to wrap the entire line. My kit came with a foam covering that was zip-tied. Should I cut that off and get some more of the gummy black stuff?
