jvolk,

If my memory serves me correctly, the Viper T56 is rated for 450 lb/ft torque. This was the same torque rating that the early (1989-92) Corvette ZF six speed manual transmissions carried as well.

Hope that this answers your question.

I met with one of the Borg Warner engineers at SEMA the year the production 'Viper' box was tested.....and when I saw the trans I was full of questions. The trans on display just arrived from Detroit and was STILL warm. The cat told me that they had just pulled it off the dyno from a 24 hour endurance run....O.K.....they ran it at 650 ftlbs.....for 24 H O U R S. So to say the least, their numbers are conservative at 450 ftlbs factory. And I have seen that same trans behind a 850 hp projectile and it lives(and from what I experienced, it was NOT kid gloved...it was driven damn hard).

Specs....The Viper box has wider gears, different heat treat and tolerances to boot. By far the strongest 6 speed on the available market, next to a Hewland.
