Not knowing what your budget is I'd like to add my .02 cents worth.
AFR's are about the best bang for the buck if you're thinking of alum heads. They outflow the GM's FastBurn heads for about the same cost. The FastBurn heads are vortec based heads and require a differant intake, same as the vortec heads.
If you're looking for something a bit lower priced, then the GM vortec heads are a darn good buy considering how well they flow. Again, they require a differant type of intake tho.
If you'd like to stay with a standard pattern intake then I'd look at Edelbrock, World Products (S/R Torquer or Sportmans), or even TrickFlows.
Knowing whether you are building a street car, drag car, your emission requirements and other parameters would help immensly.
