What's wrong with using a GM pan with a windage tray?

Nothing wrong with it if the rod bolts will clear the pan. The SBC 400 never came with a windage tray to my knowledge (the two barrel and poor cam specs and valve train pretty well kept RPM down). If you use a "stock windage tray out of a 350 with main bolt stud combination, the crank and rods will hit the windage tray; requiring it to be slotted to clear the nuts on the rod bolts.

Other wise it is a great idea.
