Hi,
My 67 was sold with 7.35-14 tires. As far as I can find out they are 26.8" tall.
When I visit TireRack they recommend 195/75R14 as replacement and Rims'n'Tires recommend 205/75R14 as replacement.
However, a 195/75R14 is 25.5" tall and a 205/75R14 is 26.1" tall.
My question is if they really do replace 7.35-14 since the 195/75R14 is 2.6% smaller than 7.35-14 and the 205/75-14 is 4,8% smaller.
On the SS cars I believe a D70-14 was used and that is 25.4" tall.
For me it seems like a big difference. Anyone who knows if the speedometers were setup with different gears depending on the tire size?
And should I go for 26.8" or 25.4" tall tires?

I've heard lots of folks throw around odd numbers for 7.35-14 tires.
But according to the old tire sizing sheets I have they are spec.d as being 25.9" in diameter ...

So either a P195/75R14 or a 205/70R14 would be a comparable sizing selection ;)

Here is a chart for some of the common sizes - http://www.vintagecarconnection.com/vintage_tire_size_conversion_chart.htm

I have seen those charts when searching info on the internet but I was bothered by the info I found for the 7.35-14 Coker tires, but I guess these charts are more correct so I will go for your recommendation.
Thanks for the info.

Hi,
I know you guys knows all there is to know but I will still give you some credits (especially John). I found a website http://www.barrystiretech.com that has all info about these old tires. You do probably know it already but it may be useful for other searching for replacement tires.
This is a link to a tire chart that actually specifies the dimension of a 7.35-14 (and many more).

John, your memory is good  The overall diameter of a 7.35-14 is 25.96".
What confused me was that Coker Tires specified their 7.35-14 to have an overall diameter of 26.80".

Just curious why you would go with that size and what brand you would recomend?
I don't really have a recommendation for brand, but the reason I would run that size is because a 215 would fit nicely on a 7.35 inch wide wheel so that's just what I would run.
