The stock wheel lug bolts are apparently not strong enuff for high speed cornering. What size do you replace them with (thickness & length) and what do you do to the rims?

Get some ARP wheel studs. You should be able to replace stock studs with the same size ARP studs since the ARP studs are made of a stronger material.

NHRA rules require that the stud protrude through the lug nut by an amount at least equal to the diameter of the stud. This supposedly provides the strongest clamping force without putting excessive loads on the stud. I'm sure a similar rule would apply to other types of racing as well.

i'll post a suggestion that others perhaps have thought of... i use moroso 1/1 x 20 x 3 1/2 studs. while i dont "corner" with a blown bb I have found the studs to be very very strong. just my $.02...
