Spent a lot of time looking for raised white letter tires, at least 16", for triple red 68 vert. Selection is very, very thin. The only thing I can come up with is Goodyear Eagle GT II:

________________________________________________________________
1. Will 15's on the front and 17's on the rear look goofy? Would 15's and
16's look better?

Front Rear
P235/70R15 with P285/60R16
or or
P255/70R15 P285/60R17
or
P255/60R15
________________________________________________________________
2. Will same size wheel and tire look better or worse?

Front and rear

P255/60R17

Thanks for your opinions.

Well.......How about "red lines" instead since the car is triple red? You can get them in 17s and 18s. They are not cheap though. I don't think the 15/17 idea works.....at all - sorry. The car can take as you know most people do wider tires in the rear. It's your choise whether or not you want 4 the same size (for rotation?). I would go bigger in the rear. Then it's a question of whether or not you want 17s front 18s rear. That's up to you and a matter of taste.

Thanks for the link. It is hard for me to picture redlines on a red car. May play around with computer to see if I put together a composite photo.

Can't get 18" Eagles. with Eagles the only combo is either the same size front and rear or 285/60R16 rear with P235/70R15 front.

Wiskeesour,

I really want a tire with raised white letters to give the car exerior some contrasting color.

Thanks,

In most cases no bigger than a 245/45 in the front and a 275/40 in the rear. Besides being a little wide for the application they will be too tall also.

You're welcome for the link.

I don't think you're getting 285s in the rear without some work (hammering).

There are other color sidewalls available besides red (white - blue - gold). So you can do contrast if you want.

What type of rim will you be going with. And what kind of look Resto-Mod Modified Original. I just went through this its difficult to make a decision when there is a lot of money involved.

Hey 67,

I guess it will fall under "modified original". I want the old school look of raised white letter tires. I have checked all the large manufacturers and 15" are the only ones that I find with varied tire sizes. Originally was going with a custom made 16" or 17" Budnik wheel that resembled Keystone Klassics. Since I can't get white letter tires in those sizes I am going to go with my favorite wheel-a 15" Keystone Klassic. In keeping with old school look I don't think a 40 or 45 series low sidwall tire will look right. At this point,
I am looking at P225/70R15 on 15x7's on the front and P255/70R15 on 15x8's in the rear. From my research on prior posts these should fit without any rubbbing issues and I do not think they will be too tall.

If you see any problem with this setup let me know.

Thanks

Outstanding ride! I just checked the backspacing on the Klassics. 7" wheel for the front is 3.750 and on the 8" rear is 3.875. Will have to do some further investigation to see if this will be a problem. How is the inside clearance on your wheels?

Thanks,
