Well I am at the point to address the rearend, so that I also means that I need to get my wheels. I thought I would have the sizes checked before I pull the trigger. Here are the specs. for the front 18x8 with 4.75 backspacing and for the rear 18x12 with 3.75 backspacing.

I think you can use an 18" x 9.5" w/ 5.5" b/s but please do a search here to be sure!!

I figure a 12" w/ 5.5" b/s wide rim will have to have your car raised regardless.

My car HAD L-60/14's on 14" x 9" w/ 3.5" b/s rims on it only b/c the lower shock mount would hit the rim if I went back in farther than like about 4"s!

My old L-60's are a measured 298/53-14!!!

And I had to use coil-overs to raise my car about 4" so they didn't get cut by the lip chrome strips!!

Now, my 17" x 8", (about 5.25" b/s w/spacers), Pony-Car "Bullitt's" fit fine b/c the shocks tuck up inside the inner rims!!

Then check how deep a b/s'ing you can go b/c at 3.5" b/s'ing, you are going out instead of in, STOCK!!!

UNLESS the rearend has been narrowed quite a bit as well as the springs relocated right!!

There is a custom four link being built right now, I am oredering my wheels right now so I can get the demesions to narrow the rearend.

if your going to order a narrowed rear end, get whatever backspacing you want
and at only 3.75" that is going to have a huge lip!

yup, I know I want a huge lip. I was mainly wondering about the 3.75" in the rear clearing the brakes and if I would have any rubbing issues with the 18x8 with the 4.75" BS when turning.

On the front, the 18x8 with a 4.75" spacing is okay, but I usually run just a hair more if possible, on a lowered car, like a 4.875 or 5". For the rear, the 3.75" backspace is the min on most custom built wheels like Billet Specialties, however, it puts alot of the weight of the wheel to the front, which is NOT good for axle bearings, etc. Which is why we, and other companies like Detroit Speed prefer to put the backspace (and the center of the wheel) closer to the center of the hoop, in most cases a 5.5" backspace on a 13" wide wheel. You'll still get your nice DEEP wheel, but function must dictate form, and from an engineering stand point, this will work better. And, on a 13" wide wheel with a 5.5" backspace, you'll still have 8.5" of front space.
If you need more help with wheels, PM me, or call.

Jon,

you said what I was trying to say better than I did!!

Good job!!

Thanks,

pdq67

PS., I'd rather have zero b/s b/c it loads the bearings BEST, imho!!

No rim induced bending moment on them at all.
