I just got my car back together and the rebuilt carb seems to be making a whistling sound while setting the curb idle for final adjustment. Itv only happens within a certain range for adjustment. I can not get to idle where I want without this annoying sound. I can adjust the whistling sound by moving the idle screw (blades) back and forth.

I think the 4 holes drilled in my throttle blades for the large cam maybe causing a whistling sound when they hit a certain angle?

I have another base plate in the garage with no holes and was thinking of switching out? Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem?

I cure my whistling by using a good base gasket

I understand your from california and all but its spelled dixie.
Maybe people will think you have fuel injection with the whisling sound. mark

Thanks dawg! Sounds to simple, but makes sense since I reused the older gasket. I will replace and recheck! I will keep you posted!

Too much initial timing! Mine did that when it was way out like +20* at idle.
