hello all. i am new to this site & need some help. can anyone tell me what are the widest 15" wheels & tires i can fit on the back of my stock 68? i would like to run 15" weld draglites & a street slick in the 26-27" height range. i would like to have them tuck w/o rubbing the quarters. thanks for any help, bill. I run 275/50/15 BFG drags on my 69 Camaro with 4.5" bs 15x8 welds. Tight fit but does not rub. They spec out at 26x11.5x15.

thanks for the welcome folks! thanks for the info also. i am not sure if its correct but i heard that 69's will clear a fatter tire out back than a 68. any thoughts on that? i would be thrilled to fit a 275/50-60/15 out back. thanks again guys!

Bill, 275/60 on 15x8 with 4.5" backspace is it. These will fit with out problems.... BUT your suspension must be good and your axel centered. They have been known to move. Also you'll need to look at if you'll be haulin' pasengers in back.

What would a 4 inch backspacing do with the 275x60x15 on a 8 inch rim? Will it rub on the outside fenderwell in the back on a 69? How about if I add the Hotchkis lowering springs in the rear? I have chance to pick up a pair of tires at a good price near home.
Thanks Bud

It would rub like no other, espicially if you lowered it,The optimum rim is a 15x8 with a 4 3/4 backspacing but they are almost non existing. The closest I know of in a 15 inch is centerline autodrag 15x8 1/2 with a 4 7/8 backspacing but then you are adding a 1/2 total width to the rim.The best to do in 15" is 8 inch with 4 1/2 b/s check out my webshots I have a close-up of my rims I'm going to have to roll the outer lip but I like the low look.

I've posted this many times before but here goes again..

OLD-SCHOOL:

L-60/14's on 14" x 9" with 3.5" backspace Fenton Aluminum slotted Mags. (And looking, I could have used a rim with a 4.5" b/s, maybe even a 5.0" b/s?)..

I had to raise my car up about 4" using coil-overs so they didn't rub the wheel well chrome if I packed passengers and my tools and stuff.

The L-60's measured a modern 298-53/14!! So were by NO stretch a 60 series tire!! BIG buggers to say the least!

I have 255/45-17's on the back on 17" x 8" Pony-car, "Bullitt" rims with 5.0 b/s now and wished I would have went 285/50's if they are even sold?? But I probably couldn't have used the great looking to me, Bullitt rims...
