Ok...Has anyone had any problems with the flapper door solenoid not working when it is secured in the frame? It seems that the only way mine will work properly is if I just don't tighten the screw. I placed a socket the same size as the solenoid in the mounting bracket and made it as round as I could possibly get it by tapping it with a body hammer, but when I tighten the screw the slightest bit the solenoid just plain won't open or close the door until I loosen the screw. Are the repo solenoids junk? Any help? Also, (FYI) I found that the plastic clips that hold the door to the frame are very loose so I used a dab of black RTV on the ends of the clip and the back side of the clip to secure them. Works fine and can't be seen once installed.

Make sure you have good contact between the solenoid case and an unpainted area on the clamp - that's the ground for the solenoid; bad ground, won't work.
