Does anyone have experience with installing a late model TPI system on a ZZ4? I am wondering if the stock IROC TPI intake manifold will bolt up to a ZZ4 with the centerbolt aluminum heads. If not, any suggestions?

Thanks,
JT

A friend put a ZZ4 in his Jeep and used the TPI. I just called him and he says it fits but you have to get a new chip burned because the ZZ4 cam is too big for the stock computer. He uses his Jeep for rock climbing. It has tremendous torque at very low RPM that is very controllable, much better than a carb that can load up at times. He does run out of air flow at the low 5000 RPM's. Let me know if yo need more info and I will ask him. He does very good work and made a great looking engine compartment.

an IROC has iron heads, so the center bolts are angled different than an older head or the aluminum heads on the ZZ$. you can get a Vette base, or an aftermarket one from somewhere.

Thanks guys,
ZZ-28, you mentioned your friend did this... and it looks like according to novaderrik, the heads are different... so did your friend use a Corvette TPI set-up? Can you also ask what year set-up he is using? I am having trouble finding an aftermarket intake that everyone agrees will work. Thanks much! JT

The ZZ4 heads have the standard angles in the 2 center holes whereas the centerbolt iron heads have a differant angle. All you need to do is elongate the 2 center holes in the intake, run a dab of silly-cone to fill the gap where the old holes were changed and run a flat washer under the bolts. Thats what I did with my ZZ3 heads (same casting as the ZZ4 heads) with the newer 87 TPI base.
